Dexterous Robotic Hand

This is called the dexterous robotic hand named after the cartoon dexter's lab.Every joint in this design requires several motors for the working and movement.The material used in making of this hand is not that soft for holding the delicate objects firmly as it is made of harder material.
The Shadow Robot Company has developed the world's most advanced Dexterous Robotic Hand.It was bast throwdown 3-out-of-5 championship at the Engadget HQ.Called the El Mano Robot is driven from a block of air muscles mounted on the device's forearm matched in opposite direction with the human hand.There are 186 sensors,joints and pneumatic valves which are software controlled for generating life-like movement,grip and precision manipulation.The more stunning part of this is that Shadow Co. is offering this product for sale.

This is a newly made Dexterous Robotic hand named as RAPHaEL(Robotic Air Powered Hand with Elastic Lingaments).It is said that this has fully articulated design and is powered by the compressor air tank at 60psi and a novel accordian type tube accuator.Microcontroller controls the movement of the hand parts resulting in the life-like movement.

"The air-powered design is what makes this design unique as this does'nt require any motors or actuators while the grasping force and compliance can be easily adjusted by the changing of the air pressure" says Dennis Hong RAPHaEL director and the faculty advisor on the project.
